PUNE: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) started a 10-day

film appreciation

course at Jaipur, Rajasthan, this week, according to a release from

FTII

in Pune. 86 participants are taking part on the course. who are from ten states.


The course directors here- Pankaj Saxena and Munish Bhardwaj- are both alumni of the FTII, having passed out in 1983 and 1996 respectively. Saxena has been a filmmaker, academic, and TV show-runner, based in Delhi. He has worked at the Discovery Channels,

BBC Worldwide

, and Lok Sabha Television.

Bhardwaj has worked with directors like Rajat Kapoor, Kumar Shahani, Mani Kaul. and Shashi Kumar. He was also the executive producer of the 2013 Rajat Kapoor film Aankhon Dekhi, and has written for a number of TV series, most notably Bhanwar and Rajdhani.

Of the participants in the course, 27 of the enrolled 86 are women, many of whom are from the home state of Rajastha. Besides, participants have come in from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Odisha, and Maharashtra, and are from a wide range of professions.
