From Aryabhata to Chandrayaan-3: ISRO's 10 Space Inventions

​Launched in 1975, Aryabhata was India's first satellite. Although it faced challenges, it marked the beginning of India's space exploration efforts.

​Launched in 2008, Chandrayaan-1 was India's first lunar probe. It made several key discoveries, including evidence of water molecules on the moon's surface.

​ISRO developed the NavIC system, an independent regional navigation satellite system that provides accurate positioning information over India and the surrounding region.

​The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle has been a workhorse for ISRO, known for its reliability and cost-effectiveness. It has successfully launched numerous satellites for India and other countries.

​ISRO has developed and launched a series of GSAT communication satellites, enhancing telecommunication, broadcasting, and broadband connectivity across India.

​In 2013, ISRO successfully launched its Mars Orbiter Mission, making India the first Asian nation to reach Martian orbit and the first nation in the world to do so in its maiden attempt.

​The Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT) series provides all-weather, day-and-night Earth observation capabilities, supporting applications in agriculture, forestry, and disaster management.

​This upcoming mission aims to study the Sun and its outermost layer, the corona, to improve our understanding of solar phenomena and their impact on Earth.

​Launched in 2015, AstroSat is India's first dedicated multi-wavelength space observatory, allowing astronomers to observe celestial objects in different wavelengths of light.

​

​Chandrayaan-3 was a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. It consisted of Lander and Rover configuration.
