Convocation at AIT
The first annual convocation of the Ansal Institute of Technology (AIT) was a day to remember in the annals of the institution. The director and patrons of the institute were visibly proud to mark the achievement while the students were in a celebratory mood having put academics on the backburner. Around 92 students of BIS(H), BBA(H), BCA and BBA streams earned their degrees.
Awards and scholarships were conferred on meritorious students too.
The chancellor of GGS Indraprastha University, KK Agarwal was the chief guest on the ocassion. He said the first annual convocation is a special occasion although each convocation is an important milestone in the life of an institution. He dwelt at length on the rapidly advancing technological changes in the world and asked the students to keep themselves updated. In 1899, he said it was thought that the patents office could be closed because all the inventions and discoveries had been made but thankfully the idea did not take off and actually since that time there have been more inventions since then as compared to those recorded till 1899. The director of AIT, M P Singh urged the graduating students to excel in every field of life.On the achievements of the institute he said the AIT is setting up a centre of excellence in collaboration with a British company HT & E to enable students to work on live projects. He further said that more than 120 students have been transferred to reputed overseas universities. Many of them are now pursuing Masters and Ph.D programmes with significant scholarships in Ivy League institutions such as Johns Hopkins, Keck Institute and Vanderbilt University. In his presidential address, noted industrialist Sushil Ansal lauded the institution on the ocassion of its first annual convocation. He acknowledged the pivotal role of GGSIPU and particularly Agarwal in granting affiliation to AIT students. He expressed the view that AIT students would turn out to be world class citizens and sought full freedom for private educational institutions. After the conferment of awards, a beaming Gunjan Gupta of BIS (H) stream, who is currently working in a reputed organisation said, ``This is a great day for me as four years of hard work has paid off." The ceremony was rounded off with snacks and celebrations and cameras clicked to capture moments to cherish forever
