According to a press release, the three-day extravaganza was inaugurated by the director general of NIFT, Gauri Kumar and it showcased a variety of cultural and educational programmes, apart from professional workshops in hairstyling, make-up, grooming and Kerala massage, to name some.<br /><br />''Temple architecture and sculptures of Andhra Pradesh'' and ''Creativity'' were the themes of the seminars organised at Hyderabad to commemorate the occasion. The Mumbai centre made Spectrum 2005 an amalgamation of fun, jazz, competitions, craft ideas and loud music. The Kolkata centre organised a seminar on ''Industry expectations - NIFTians role and performance'', interactive workshop and photography exhibition. The launch of ''Silk party wear collection'' and a jewellery show were among the activities held at the Bangalore centre of NIFT on the occasion.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">NDIM convocation</span><br /><br />The seventh annual convocation of New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM) was recently held at the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi, says a press release. Almost 120 students were conferred their postgraduate diplomas in business management and master''s in business administration (MBA) degrees on the occasion.<br />The gold medal for topping the merit list went to Promita Bhattacharya. The best student award in the male category was conferred on Rajat Sharma and in female category it went to Amita Kapoor. In addition, Amandeep Kaur was facilitated with a gold medal for topping the MBA programme of GGSIP University. The convocation ceremony was presided by Suresh Neotia, chairman, Gujrat Ambuja Cements Ltd who congratulated the chairman of the institute for NDIM being rated in A+ category of business schools in the latest AIMA survey.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Manthan 2K5</span><br /><br />''Manthan 2K5'', the annual cultural extravaganza of the Ansal Institute of Technology (AIT) was celebrated with much enthusiasm by the students of the institute. According to a press note, the two-day festival was inaugurated by M P Singh director, AIT.<br /><br />As depicted by the name, the festival aimed at bringing the hidden talents of the students to the forefront through events like management quiz competition, talent hunts, choreography, cyber games, folk dance, debates, fashion show, basketball and various informal games. It was participated by the students from various institutions in and around Delhi like the IIT Delhi, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Delhi College of Engineering, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, ITM Gurgaon and National Law College, Gurgaon, to name some. The highlight of Manthan 2K5 turned out to be the live performance by indi-pop group Euphoria which left the audience asking for more.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Biohorizon 2005 at IIT Delhi</span><br /><br />The Biochemical Engineers and Technologists Association (BETA) of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D), in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is organising its national symposium on ''Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Biohorizon-2005'' on March 11 and 12, 2005. The event will have an audience from the widest possible spectrum from technical to business and industry to research.<br /><br />Biohorizon-2005 would address both technical and business issues of biotechnology. The technical events are composed of review and poster sessions, while the business events will include panel discussions on opportunities in biotechnology careers and IPR issues in biotechnology; and bioventures - The Bioentrepreneurship Event.<br /><br />The panel discussion on opportunities in biotechnology careers intends to focus on the current, multi-faceted opportunities in the field of biotechnology, which range from research to business. With the biotechnology sector poised for an exponential growth in near times, this session moreover, aims to highlight the options before the skilled manpower in this field.<br /><br />Bioventures - The Bioentrepreneurship Event, is a unique attempt to provide an interactive forum for scientists and researchers with ideas; venture capitalists; and the industry. Delhi Government''s minister for industries, Mangat Ram Singhal inaugurated the conference, says a press release.<br /><br />Vice chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, K K Aggarwal and Michael H Anderson of American Embassy, among others presided the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, executive director of Tecnia, R K Gupta remarked, "In view of the fact that the country is going through a phase of rapid communication revolution, since the implementation of the new telecom policy by the government of India and the consequent liberalisation of the telecom sector, the average citizen''s access to communication media has increased exponentially."<br /><br />Corporate trainer, Pushkar Srivastva, media personnel Ashok Sharma and professor of international communication from University of Westminister, London, Daya Thussu, were among those who made their presentations at the conference.</div> </div>
