Coal India MT Recruitment 2026: 660 vacancies announced for Management Trainees; check eligibility, notification link and steps to apply
Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, has announced recruitment for 660 Management Trainee (MT) posts in E-1 grade. The online application process will begin on May 12, 2026, at 10 am and will continue till June 11, 2026, at 6 pm.
The recruitment drive includes vacancies in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, System, Electronics & Telecommunication, Geology, Industrial Engineering, Rajbhasha (Hindi), and Company Secretary disciplines. Selection will be based solely on marks obtained in the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). No interview will be conducted.
Candidates selected as Management Trainees will receive pay in the scale of Rs 60,000 to Rs 1,80,000 during the training period, with an initial basic pay of Rs 60,000 per month. After successful completion of one year of training-cum-probation, candidates will be confirmed as officers in E-1 grade.
The maximum age limit for General and EWS candidates is 30 years as on April 30, 2026. Relaxations in the upper age limit will be applicable for reserved category candidates as per government rules.
The CBT will be conducted for three hours and will include two papers of 100 marks each. Paper-I will test General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability and English, while Paper-II will assess discipline-specific professional knowledge. There will be no negative marking.
A total of 660 vacancies have been announced, including backlog vacancies. Among the disciplines, Electrical has the highest number of openings with 221 posts, followed by Civil with 178 posts and Mechanical with 145 posts.
Candidates belonging to General, OBC and EWS categories will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1,180 including GST. SC, ST, PwBD candidates and employees of Coal India and its subsidiaries are exempted from fee payment.
Candidates must possess the required degree with minimum qualifying marks from a recognised university or institute. Most engineering disciplines require a BE/BTech degree with at least 60 per cent marks.
Reserved category candidates get a 5 per cent relaxation in minimum qualifying marks. Final-year students expecting results by August 31, 2026, are also eligible to apply.
