Class 12 Geography exam in February 2026: How NCERT’s free SWAYAM course can support preparation
With the Class 12 board examinations just around the corner, students are now thinking of their revision much more attentively, particularly those subjects that demand conceptual clarity and practice, such as Geography. As the Class 12 Geography exam will be held in February 2026, this is one of the most important stages when a student organizes his/her knowledge better and works out the strategy to pass the exam.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has also introduced a free course on Geography through the SWAYAM portal to support the students in this period. The project provides the learners with a chance to relearn some of the important concepts in a systematic and interactive way that is directly related to the Class 12 syllabus.
The course concentrates on different aspects of human geography, such as the economic, social, cultural and political facets. By using well formulated modules, the students are exposed to the impacts of human activities on regions, resources as well as developmental patterns all over the world. The material is NCERT based and thus particularly useful in board exam preparation.
The course is hosted on the SWAYAM portal, and students are able to learn at their own pace and provides flexibility to the course in addition to school studies and self-revision.
The more the revision pressure, the more the students may require more elaboration on complicated issues. The SWAYAM course provided by NCERT aids in the simplification of major themes and supports the study of textbooks. It may act as a useful revision aid, especially to those learners who enjoy visual learning and instruction.
Online format also provides an assurance that the student will go through the lessons severally so that they can reinforce the areas of weakness without necessarily having to depend on coaching alone or other learning materials.
The SWAYAM course should be used together with the NCERT textbooks by the students. The learning can be consolidated through watching a module after a chapter. Keeping short notes, particularly to define and case studies and even map work, will help in accelerated revision before approaching the exam.
Answers practice following every unit will also assist the students with time management and organization of answers during the exam.
