Children's Day in India is celebrated on 14 November every year as a tribute to India's First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The day aims at increasing the awareness of the rights, care and education of children. On this day, many educational and motivational programs are organised across the country, by and for children.

India's First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru was fondly called Chacha Nehru.
He was very fond of children and roses. He considered children as the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November 1889. He had established various educational institutions such as Indian Institutes of Technology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Indian Institutes of Management. Free primary education, free meals at schools. It was his love for children that after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru, his birth anniversary was deliberated to be celebrated as Children's Day in India. Prior to the death of Jawaharlal Nehru, India celebrated Children's Day on 20 November (the date observed as Universal Children's Day by the United Nations).
