CBSE releases important notice regarding correction of Board exam particulars: Check important details here
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notification allowing affiliated schools to make corrections in the particulars of candidates submitted for the 2025 board examinations. The correction facility, which opened on April 9, will remain active until April 17, the board confirmed. The move comes after several schools were found to have submitted incorrect candidate data despite repeated instructions issued by the board. In many cases, institutions later approached CBSE seeking amendments in student details, prompting the board to open a formal correction window.According to the notification, a processing fee of ₹1,000 per candidate will be charged for each correction request. The amount is to be deposited by the schools with their respective regional CBSE offices. The facility is open only for regular candidates.

Permitted corrections listed

CBSE has specified the types of corrections allowed during this window. These include:
  • Interchange of mother’s and father’s names
  • Correction of photograph
  • Date of birth correction, subject to board rules and valid documentation
  • Update in the 'Single Child' status field
  • Correction of gender
In cases involving parental names, only minor modifications will be accepted. Major changes or full name replacements will not be permitted, the board clarified.

No change in category allowed

CBSE has further stated that a change of category, such as from General to OBC, is not permitted as part of this correction process.
The board has urged school authorities to ensure data accuracy at the time of submission to avoid last-minute requests and discrepancies. The current window is intended as a one-time provision to address data errors that could affect students’ results and official documents.Candidates can click on the link provided here to download the notice regarding the correction of the Board exam details.
