CBSE re-evaluation portal glitches leave Class XII students unable to apply before deadline
PUNE: On the final day of CBSE’s Std XII verification and re-evaluation process, several students across the country reported being locked out of the board’s portal due to technical glitches, while repeated attempts to reach official helplines and support channels went unanswered.
As the deadline approached on Sunday, social media platforms were flooded with complaints from students who said they were unable to submit applications because of login failures, “Roll Number Not Found” errors, payment issues, captcha failures and unresponsive webpages.
The latest complaints have intensified anger among students already upset over discrepancies they claimed to have found after accessing scanned copies of their answer sheets, particularly in science subjects.
“I was unable to apply for revaluation as the portal displayed ‘Roll Number Not Found’ when I tried to log in with my valid roll number. Due to this technical issue, I cannot submit my request before the deadline,” wrote a student on X while tagging CBSE.
Another student Pratik Sajjan from New Delhi said, “I was trying to login to the site but I couldn’t. The portal closed and I was unable to proceed despite entering all details correctly.”
Several students said the problem was compounded by the absence of support from official channels. According to students, calls to the CBSE helpline either went unanswered or remained perpetually busy, while emails received no response for the past three to four days.
“Their helpline was not responding, emails were not being answered and the portal was not working. How are students supposed to apply before the deadline?” Tanishka Rathi from Bhopal said..
A candidate from a remote region highlighted additional connectivity challenges. “The site is not working properly and I live in a remote place where network issues already exist. I have requested the board to extend the deadline because students are losing their chance due to technical problems,” Vishal More from Solapur said.
The frustration was particularly visible among students seeking re-evaluation in physics. Many have been alleging marking inconsistencies since answer-sheet copies became available and have been demanding corrective action, including grace marks.
“We are not asking for anything unreasonable. We simply requested that grace marks be awarded in physics because many genuine answers have not been given appropriate marks,” Akanksha Sharma, a student from Bengaluru said.
Students also linked the delay to admission deadlines and competitive career opportunities. One candidate awaiting re-evaluation progress wrote, “It has been several days since my submission and the status still shows under review. My applications are getting affected and there is no clarity from CBSE, “ Aniket Mahajan from Pune said.
As complaints mounted throughout the day, many students shared screenshots showing error messages and failed application attempts. Others questioned why the portal continued to face issues despite earlier extensions granted by the board.
The current re-evaluation cycle had already been extended after technical disruptions and security concerns affected the process. However, students argued that the additional time provided little relief if the portal itself remained inaccessible during crucial hours.
By Sunday evening, demands for another extension were growing louder across social media. Students urged CBSE either to keep the portal open for a few more days or introduce an alternative mechanism for candidates unable to apply because of technical failures.
CBSE issued reminders asking students to complete applications before the midnight deadline, but affected candidates said the bigger issue was not awareness of the deadline but their inability to access the system.
