CBSE opens SARAS 7.0 portal for affiliation applications for session 2027–28, check categories and deadlines

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the online application window for school affiliation under various categories for the academic session 2027–28. Applications must be submitted through SARAS 7.0. The Board has requested the applicant schools to adhere to the instructions given in the Affiliation Bye, Laws as well as the detailed Manual 7.0 available on the official website.

Schools planning to get fresh affiliation, upgradation, extension, or other permissions should submit their applications within the specified timelines. Certain categories will be open all year, whereas others will have a fixed deadline of July 31, 2026.

CBSE SARAS 7.0 applications open till July 31, 2026

The following categories will remain open till July 31, 2026:

• Fresh Affiliation up to Secondary Level
• Fresh Affiliation up to Senior Secondary Level
• Fresh Affiliation up to Secondary Level (Switch over from other Boards)
• Fresh Affiliation up to Senior Secondary Level (Switch over from other Boards – only for schools already affiliated to another board)
• Upgradation to Secondary Level
• Upgradation to Senior Secondary Level
• Extension of Affiliation
• Restoration of Affiliation
• Branch School
• Permission of Two Shifts
• Section Increase
• Introduction of Additional Subject (Science stream for Senior Secondary level)

Schools must ensure compliance with land norms, infrastructure requirements, and staff qualifications before applying.

Categories open throughout the year

CBSE has clarified that the SARAS window will remain open throughout the year for the following categories:

• Approval for Middle Class Syllabus
• Closure of School
• Land correction (increase/decrease)
• Permission of change of school name
• Permission of change name of Society/Trust/Company (as per school status)
• Interchange of School Managing Entity
• Transfer of school from one society/trust/company to another
• Permission for site shifting (as per school status)

All Foreign/International Schools and Government/Government-Aided schools must also follow the prescribed process.

CBSE has advised schools to carefully review Manual 7.0 before submitting applications on the SARAS portal to avoid rejection or delay.
