Being from less privileged grounds so bar for these students to score big in board examination

proved it again that being from less privileged background is no bar in dreaming big and achieving excellent result in the

Madhyamik Examination

. In the results of the class X

West Bengal

Board examination published out on Tuesday, 310 students of the school chain scored 90% and above marks while the rest scored 75% and above, the topper among them being

Sumaiya Khatun

, who scored 677 marks.

The Al-Ameen Mission currently run 39 schools across the state. This year a total 1057 students wrote the examination in which 468 were girls and the rest boys. Sumaiya Khatun a daughter of a Madrasa school teacher scored 100 in Maths. Her overall rank in the state is 14. Khatun appeared from Belpukur branch

"In a community that where education is all the more neglected when it comes to girls. We are proud that a girl had topped the school. We have been encouraging girls to study and providing boarding facilities is helping more girls to study," said Nurul Islam, founder secretary of Al-Ameen Mission.

The Mission established on the lines of Ram Krishna Mission, aims at providing quality education to students of the minority community even as it accepts students from other communities also. Majority of the students of the school chain are from economically challenged families and many are first time learners. Take the example of Nurzaman Sheikh who has been studying in the Sugor branch of Al-Ameen in Birbhum since class VI. The son of a stone quarry worker scored 665 marks.

"Due to poverty I could not study much. But I am happy for my son and hope he will have a bright career with the kind of guidance and help he is getting from the school," said Nurzaman's father Moinuddin.

Nurzaman wants to become a doctor and serve people in his village in addition to salvaging his family from poverty.

Iqbal from Patharchapuri branch, whose score is 676 marks while Akhtara Parvin, another female student, a student of Khalatpur branch scored 671.

A good number of the Mission's schools get into medical colleges after passing class XII. But Masud Mondal, a clerk's son, among the high scores wants to become an IPS officer.
