PRAYAGRAJ: The all-important meeting of the Executive Council (EC) of

Allahabad University

, to decide on the names of the two members for the search committee for securitizing the applications for the post of vice chancellor of AU, was held on the campus, on Friday.

The meeting was held at the North Hall of the Senate Hall of the arts campus wherein Five members did not attended the meeting. All of these members are themselves the applicants for the post of VC, including the officiating VC, Prof R R Tewari.

, dean faculty of commerce presided over the meeting.

After long discussion, the members reached on the consensus and decided the two names which were sent to the ministry of human resource and development. The third name of the search committee would be nominated by the President of the country in the capacity of Visitor of the central university.

The three member committee would now scrutinise all the over 120 applicants and could hold interview with around 15 or 20 applicants from which Three or Five names could be send to the President and he would appoint any one of them.

Although the names of the two members were not disclosed by the varsity authorities but highly places sources inform that Prof

, Lucknow and Gautam Sen are the two members of the search committee.

AU public relation officer (PRO),

Shailendra Mishra

said, "Five members of the EC and the registrar did not attend the meeting and the Two names have been selected and sent to HRD".
