The Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) under the higher education department is overseeing the three-day conclave. Scholars who have received extramural funding from the state government under the Mukhyamantri Research Innovation (MRI) will also exhibit their research output at the conclave.

“As many as 463 scholars have registered their names for participation. We expect around 400 of them will attend the conclave. Kishore K Basa, director-general of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), will attend the conclave as the chief guest,” said Sambalpur University vice-chancellor Bidhu Bhusan Mishra.

He said they have allotted space for each scholar to showcase their research works through presentations. A roundtable for vice-chancellors of universities will be conducted to discuss the promotion of research culture in the state. Apart from roundtables and poster presentations, experts from different domains will give special lectures on the second day, he added.

On the last day, an industry-academia interface will be arranged. Higher education minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak will deliver a valedictory address. OSHEC vice-chairperson Asoka Kumar Das said they will have a ‘Patent and Product corner’ at this conclave.

Researchers and government-run universities in the state will come together to talk about their respective areas of work and get mentored by eminent academics and subject experts. The objective of the exercise is to improve the quality of research in the state's public universities, said the official sources.

This conclave will give an opportunity not just to research scholars but also to faculty members of public universities and colleges under the higher education and skill development and technical education departments to showcase their work.

Last year, the Odisha Research Conclave was organized by Ravenshaw University Cuttack. The objective of this format was to increase the exposure of researchers to interdisciplinary studies.
