CHENNAI: There have been few takers for aeronautical engineering in admissions at Anna University this year. By the eighth day of counselling on Wednesday, only 226 candidates had opted for the course for which there are 2,625 seats.
In comparison, 482 students chose automobile engineering, which has 2,455 seats, and 557 opted for biotechnology, which has only 1,357 seats.

Experts say if students are interested in aeronautical engineering and choose a reputed college, they will not have to worry about job opportunities. “It is a specialised industry,” a Chennai-based career expert said.
Getting into the right college is essential as some colleges provide students with industry exposure, Rajalakshmi Engineering College placement director Philip Praveen said.
“This is not a conventional course. An institute should have proper infrastructure to send out eligible candidates. Industry connect is also essential,” Nehru Group of Institutions, Coimbatore, CEO and secretary P Krishnakumar said.
