The state education department has decided to consider continuous five-year job tenure for pay upgradation of assistant teachers employed in grant-in-aid schools under state government’s five-year fixed pay scheme Vidyasahayak Yojana. Sources said that this will also benefit assistant teachers in getting their promotions. However, the department has clarified that the teachers who have been employed under Vidyasahayak Yojana under the new pension scheme will not be entitled to the old pension scheme.
So far for promotions and upgradation of pay scales of assistant teachers, the government did not consider the five-year fixed pay tenure. Sixth year was considered as the first year of their job tenure for promotions and salary revisions. Sources said that this means that so far the teachers used to get entitled to a salary hike after a total 14 years as the government did not consider five-year fixed pay tenure. Now, they will be entitled to a salary hike after 9 years.
