The West Bengal College Service Commission will close the registration window today, September 15, 2022, by midnight for the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WB SET) 2023. Interested candidates must hurry up and visit the official website – wbcsconline.in to apply.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Candidates must possess at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from UGC recognized Universities/Institute.
  • For OBC (non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD category, the percentage is lowered to 50%.

Those who are pursuing a Master’s degree or have appeared for their qualifying examination and whose result is still awaited are also eligible.

How to Apply:
  1. Visit the official website - wbcsconline.in
  2. On the homepage, click on ‘Apply for State Eligibility Test
  3. Fill in all the details – Exam, Personal & Qualification and upload the required documents
  4. Pay the application fees (Rs 1200 – General, Rs 600 – OBC/EWS & Rs 300 – SC/ST/PWD)
  5. Submit the application form and download it
  6. Take a printout for future reference

WB SET 2023 Exam Pattern:
In the WB SET exam, candidates will have to attempt two papers consisting of objective questions. The total exam will be 300 marks with each question carrying two marks.
  • Paper I: 50 questions of general nature intended to access the teaching and research aptitude of candidates.
  • Paper II: 100 questions based on the subject selected by the candidate.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:
  • 40% aggregate marks for the General category
  • 35% aggregate marks for Reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD)

Candidates who have filled out the application form will receive an admit card that will be uploaded on the official website in the 3rd week of December 2022.
The WB SET 2023 will be conducted on January 8, 2023, in 33 subjects at selected test centers in different districts of West Bengal.
The exam is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the post of Assistant Professor only in West Bengal. The marks obtained by the candidates in both papers of SET in aggregate will ascertain their eligibility for the position of Assistant Professor.
