I still remember my knock of 42 not out against New Zealand in Bangalore during the 1987 World Cup. We were 170/7 when I walked out to bat. Kapil Dev was at the other end. I just went up to him and said that I will give him the strike. But to everybody's surprise and even to me, I hit one to the ropes. After that four I still said: "I will take a single and give you the strike." When Sunny almost missed the World Cup
During our camp at the National Stadium in New Delhi, our physio Ali Irani dropped a steel box on Sunil Gavaskar's head. Initially, we laughed. But it turned out to be more serious and we thought he might miss the event. The BCCI also came in to the picture and asked how it can happen just few days before the World Cup.
