Ashish Nehra's ankle resembled a football prior to the game against England at the Kingsmead in Durban during the 2003 World Cup. So bad was it that he could not wear his socks during the match. But Nehra was one of the key seamers in Ganguly's plan of action. Not playing was not an option. India, after playing well initially, collapsed in a heap to set England 251 for a win.
Nehra came in first change and immediately the magic began.
The heavy atmosphere and the lights combined as Nehra bowled the spell of his life. Bowling his ten overs on the trot, he got rid of Hussain, Stewart, Vaughan, Collingwood, White and Irani to bowl India to a famous win. To celebrate his feat, he gobbled a banana and in excitement threw it all up.
