India's S-400 shield on track: Russian deliveries remain on schedule
Russia’s supplies of its S-400 missile defence system to India are on schedule, Reuters reported citing Interfax.
The upcoming delivery will add another squadron to India’s air defence network as New Delhi continues strengthening its aerial shield.
The S-400 surface-to-air missile system is considered a key element of India’s “Sudarshan Chakra” air defence architecture and is among the world’s most advanced long-range missile defence systems.
Developed by Russia’s Almaz-Antey, the S-400 can engage aerial threats including aircraft, drones and ballistic missiles at ranges of up to 400 km, while detecting targets as far as 600 km away. Its capabilities symbolize precision, speed and lethal accuracy.
The Russian-made S-400 air defence system played a crucial role during India’s counterterror military action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack last year.
The long-range missile system credited for downing multiple Pakistan fighter jets.
The system was credited with helping thwart Pakistan’s attempts to target Indian military installations, with the Air Force (IAF) describing it as a “game-changer.”
