The foundation of the present Indian Army was laid by the British officers & we must thank them. Every cadet who has passed out from the Indian Military Academy was highly motivated by the famous inscription in the Chetwode Hall of the Field Marshal Philip Chetwode in 1932. "The safety, honour and welfare of your country come first, always and every time.""The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command come next.""Your own ease, comfort and safety come last, always". The former Generals of the Indian Army always quoted these lines to motivate the officers & the soldiers.I only hope that the name of the Chetwode Hall & the moral boosting inscription is not erased under the present government's blind policy of eradicating the "Colonial mentality".Read allPost comment
