BEL, RRP Group ink pact on semiconductors & defence tech

BENGALURU: Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RRP Electronics Limited and RRP Defense Limited to jointly pursue opportunities in semiconductors, electro-optics and unmanned systems, marking a push to deepen indigenous defence capabilities.“The partnership brings together BEL’s experience in defence electronics and mission-critical systems with RRP Electronics’ semiconductor manufacturing strengths and RRP Defense’s expertise in electro-optical systems and UAV platforms,” BEL said in a statement.

The companies will collaborate to design and develop high-precision surveillance systems, weapon sights, semiconductor devices and next-generation unmanned solutions for defence and strategic use.BEL said the collaboration is aligned with national goals on indigenisation and capability expansion, and is expected to accelerate the development of advanced technologies within the domestic ecosystem.Under the agreement, the partners will jointly identify and execute projects, with a focus on delivering reliable, high-performance systems. The tie-up is also expected to open up export opportunities in line with the Defence Ministry’s push to expand overseas sales.
The MoU was exchanged between Niti Pandit, General Manager (Strategic Planning), BEL, and Rajendra Chodankar, founder and chairman of the RRP Group, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.BEL CMD Manoj Jain said the collaboration would help deliver indigenous solutions for both domestic and global markets. Chodankar said the partnership would strengthen India’s defence technology base and support long-term strategic interests.
