Cut the drama, it’s SCUD Day today
Some call it lame and weird, others call it cool and hilarious - July 8 is SCUD Day, which stands for Savor the Comic, Unplug the Drama.
For all those who think their lives have too much drama, it’s the day to sit back, relax, and enjoy the funny side of life.
Take a break

I hardly get time for my friends after my marriage. It’s with them that I can have a good hearty laugh anytime and on anything. So I’ll go out with my friends today and just have a good time.” She also suggests something for everyone. “Mothers should take a break from their kids, wives from their husbands, girlfriends from their boyfriends, employees from their bosses and just do what they want to do for a day,” she says.
Watch a comic flick
Says 18-year-old Vanshika Arora, who, after much hard work, tension and drama, has just got admission in an undergrad school, “I have been wanting to go out for a movie with friends since a long time, but because I was caught up with admissions, I couldn’t. Today I will go out for a movie, and as today is SCUD Day, I’ll watch a comic flick with friends, maybe “Delhi Belly”.”
Why a specific day?
But Tanaya Gupta, 23, thinks the concept is a little lame and wants to know why does she need a specific day to enjoy the funnier side of life. “Why a specific day? Why can’t every day be SCUD Day?” she asks. Agrees her friend Smiti Maini, but adds, “The idea of SCUD Day might act as a push for those who are not able to set their mind at moving past the drama and laughing it off.”
