WELLINGTON: New Zealand cricket fans have gone cold on the Indians, with only 8000 tickets pre-sold for Wednesday''s One-day International in Wellington. Any hope of assembling a half-decent crowd at the stadium was dashed by New Zealand''s seven-wicket win in Queenstown on Saturday.
New Zealand Cricket''s marketing manager Peter Dwan can see the writing on the wall for the remaining three games, though sales are likely to be helped by strong Indian communities in Auckland and Hamilton.
"We all entered into this series thinking it was going to be very close, with the possibility our guys would be on the back foot, we weren''t to know India would be so poor. I suspect we''ll be well below budget but overall we are well above thanks to two good Test crowds."
