NEW DELHI: World's first first dedicated VR cinema is all set to open in Amsterdam, Europe.

Called The Virtual Reality Cinema, it is the brainchild of Samhoud Media, the company that experimented with 'VR cinema' around Europe in 2015.

Other cities like London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and Madrid are next in line to get these Cinema theatres after Amsterdam.

    As reported by VentureBeat, the VR cinema theatres will not come with a regular screen and seats facing it, but will instead have swivel chairs for movie goers.

    Viewers can turn freely in their chairs and watch the VR movie in 360 degrees with their VR headsets and a pair of headphones. According to reports, the hardware used in the cinema will be Samsung Gear headsets, Samsung S6 phones and Sennheiser headphones.

      The theater can hold up to 50 people at a time and movies are expected to be of 30-35 minutes in duration.

      This is the latest development in the world of virtual reality that seems to have a promising year ahead. However, it is still too early to predict whether VR theatres will be a hit or a miss with the masses.
