YSRCP to oppose privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant
VISAKHAPATNAM: The YSRCP Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy said that the Andhra Pradesh would not accept Posco to come to Vizag and will oppose the privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant (VSP).
This fight against privatisation would continue till the Central government cancel its decision and AP government would fight for even captive mines, besides conversion of debts into equity, he said
“Our fight will continue in Parliament and also outside the Parliament.

We will be at the forefront in fight against the privatisation of VSP. We are extending full support to the trade unions and workers of the plant,” he said.
While addressing a public meeting at VSP entrance at Kurmannapalem on Saturday after completing the 25 km stretch of Padayatra along with the tourism minister M Srinivsa Rao from GVMC Gandhi statue to Kurmannapallem by passing through five assembly constituencies, Vijayasai Reddy said lack of captive mines put the steel plant into losses.
People supported the anti-privatisation Padyatra for Vizag Steel Plant as thousands of people welcomed the Padayatra in the entire stretch of 25 km.
“The chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had already written a letter to the Prime Minister and also opposed the privatisation move of the plant. He also suggested that if the debts were converted into equity and allotment of mines, the plant would come into profits," the YSRCP national general secretary V Vijayasai Reddy said. He said they have responsibility to protect the people’s benefits.

Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao said that the state government would pass a resolution in the assembly and appealed to all political parties and public to join hands to protect the steel plant.
Ministers M Srinivasa Rao, K Kannababu, S Appala Raju and MPs Gorantla Madhav of Anantapur, MVV Satyanarayana, Satyavathi and Pilli Subhash Chandrabose, besides APIIC chairperson Roja and MLAs participated.
Earlier, the Padayatra started after garlanding the Gandhi statue by Vijayasai Reddya. Deputy CM Dharmana Krishna Das and others. The youth conducted a bike rally before the Padayatra and various artists performed cultural performances, besides childrens skating and few youth wore the masks of Vijayasai. Youth were seen with T-shirts of Jagan photographs.
