Women’s day celebrated at IIMV
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) celebrated the international women’s day on Friday. The Vatsalya Team, the social responsibility club of IIMV, organised the event under the theme of 'invest in women: accelerate progress'. As part of the celebration, IIMV hosted a virtual talk by Uma Rao Ganduri, CHRO, Sekhmet Pharmaventures. IIMV dean (administration) Prof MV Anuradha also addressed the gathering.
Uma Rao Ganduri said that each day belongs to individuals, nurturing a positive self-assurance that enriches their everyday encounters. Drawing from ancient Indian wisdom and contemporary education, she shed light on the collective journey forward. She spoke about the concept of Ardhanarishwara (the deity representing both male and female halves), showcasing gender equality even in mythology.
Counsellor and ICC Member, Dr Deepa Mohan, emphasised that women's day should be recognised every day, not just on March 8. She encouraged women to believe in themselves, be proud of their strengths, and maintain self-respect while respecting the men in their lives.
Ardra S Joy highlighted how IIMV has empowered women by entrusting them with responsibilities traditionally held by male students, demonstrating true women's empowerment.
IMV students dedicated songs and organised fun activities to commemorate the event and show appreciation for women within the IIMV community.
