Woman Maoist in police custody

Malkangiri police in Odisha took a 20-year-old woman Maoist, identified as Dhanumati belonging to the cut off area committee, into their custody from her native village Dabbaguda in Andrapalli panchayat on Monday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Malkangiri police in Odisha took a 20-year-old woman Maoist, identified as Dhanumati belonging to the cut off area committee, into their custody from her native village Dabbaguda in Andrapalli panchayat on Monday. Dhanumati had received bullet injuries on her leg during the Bejjangi encounter on October 24. According to sources, Dhanumati had managed to escape the encounter site and was later helped by cut off area committee commander Sudhir to reach her native village.

On receiving the information, Dhanumati was taken into custody by the cops for interrogation. Sources said the cops would confirm in a couple of days whether it was an arrest or surrender.
