VZM lawyers protest, want HC in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: The legal fraternity of Vizianagaram staged a protest on Thursday demanding the government to relocate the AP

high court

from its temporary location in Nelapadu to Vizag. The lawyers in Vizianagaram want the high court to be set up in Vizag permanently.

The lawyers have formed a joint action committee (JAC), led by convenor TV Srinivasa Rao and secretary K Srinivas in order to realise their demand. The lawyers boycotted their duties and staged a protest. According to TV Srinivas Rao, the temporary HC at Nelapadu does not have basic amenities. Rao said that Vizag is more suited to housing the high court than Nelapadu or Kurnool because Vizag has the required infrastructure and several law colleges.

Advocates

say that they will continue their protests and further intensify their stir if the government decides to shift the high court to Kurnool instead of Vizag.

Advocates in Vizag are chalking out plans to launch protests demanding that the Andhra Pradesh high court be

set up in Vizag.
