Visakhapatnam: Local girl Md Shabnam, a medium pacer, was selected to the India U-19 women’s team for the five-match T20 series against New Zealand to be held in Mumbai from November 27 to December 6. Shabnam is the fourth girl from
Andhra to represent India. Earlier Sneha Deepthi, from Visakhapatnam, R Kalpana and S. Meghana (from Krishna) have played for India.
They are with the Railways now. ACA is confident that left-arm medium pacer K. Anjali Saranya, leg-spinner G Saranya would soon made it into the Indian team.
Revanth’s ton Andhra in strong position
Opener K Revanth Reddy hit third century in as many matches to take Andhra to a position of strength against Odisha in the Cooch-Behar trophy tournament group C league match at the Barabati stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. At stumps on the second day, the Kadapa boy Revanth is batting on 127 after getting involved in good partnerships with his captain SV Rahul and M Abhinav and currently with GSP Teja.
