Vizag girl to get British honour
VISAKHAPATNAM: Ahead of the International Day of The Girl Child on October 11, the British high commission has launched a competition, calling on young women aged 18 to 23 years to submit a short video on social media by answering the question ‘What does gender equality mean to you?’ and tagging @UKinIndia. The winner will be given an opportunity to take over as high commissioner for a day.
This year, the opportunity was given to students of the two Telugu-speaking states, and city girl Vempati Sneha Deepthi has emerged as the winner of the competition. Sneha Deepthi, 21, will now take up the ‘High Commissioner For A Day Challenge’ here. Sshe will accompany Andrew Fleming, British deputy high commissioner for AP and Telangana, through a normal day’s work, attending meetings with senior high commission staff and getting involved in a wide range of high commission work.
