TIRUPATI: In a significant development in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case,
CBI sleuths from Hyderabad have asked Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy to appear before them for questioning at 3 pm in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The CBI officials, who tried to meet the Kadapa MP to serve notices to him on Monday, couldn't meet him and handed over the notices to his personal assistant Raghava Reddy.
Sources said the Kadapa MP, after collecting the CBI notices from his PA on Monday evening, communicated to the agency that he shall appear before them after five days.
The MP said he was caught up in the middle of pre-scheduled meetings and commitments. It may be recalled that former MP Vivekananda Reddy was murdered at his residence at Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, a few months before the general elections.
The CBI took over the investigation of the case from the special investigation team appointed by the state government following a high court order. And following a Supreme Court order, the trial and probe into the larger conspiracy behind the murder of the former minister was transferred to Hyderabad in November last year.
