VISAKHAPATNAM: In yet another incident of
murder in Vizag city, a 45-year-old G Srinu was brutally murdered by B Prasad (23) at Allipuram under Two-Town police station limits on Sunday morning.
Srinu was murdered by Prasad for allegedly teasing his mother Gowri. The deceased Srinu was a painter.
Inspector of police, K Venkat Rao, said that Srinu was addicted to alcohol.
He teased Gowri, a maid, while she was returning to her home on Sunday morning. The inebriated Srinu allegedly misbehaved with her by trying to catch hold of the woman’s hand. Angry Gowri, entered a heated argument with Srinu. The locals pacified the duo.
However, Gowri informed her son Prasad about the incident. Prasad came to the spot and caught hold of Srinu and murdered him. The police said that Srinu beaten the victim with a brick on his face or hit his head to the ground hard. The visuals of the accused dragging Srinu on the road were visible in a CCTV installed at a nearby shop. The woman and her son left the place after they confirmed that Srinu had died.
Our investigation has revealed that there was no rivalry between Srinu and Prasad in the past and the murder was the result of teasing the woman. The body was sent for postmortem. Based on the CCTV evidence and a few others, we have arrested Srinu and her mother Gowri.
Vizag city has been witnessing murders for past few months. A total of eight murders were reported in the city in less than two months. It may be recalled that a rowdy-sheeter Anil was murdered during broad daylight near in bar under MVP Colony police station limits in Vizag city. EOM
