Visakhapatnam: Naval diving support vessels launched

VISAKHAPATNAM: Navy chief Adm R Hari Kumar on Thursday said that close partnership between the Navy, shipyards, and industry would be the key drivers in India's pursuit of becoming a developed nation by 2047, and by the time Indian Navy will have all platforms indigenous, such as ships, submarines, aircraft, unmanned systems, etc.

He was speaking on the occasion of the launch of two indigenous diving support vessels (DSVs), Nistar and Nipun, built by Hindustan Shipyard Ltd in Visakhapatnam.

The vessels were launched by Mrs Kala Hari Kumar, president of Navy Wellness & Welfare Association. She performed the traditional honour and named the DSVs before they embraced the blue waters of Bay of Bengal.

The Navy Chief said the vessels represent the coming of age of expertise and experience of India's shipbuilding industry.
