VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakha Dairy chairman Adari Tulasi Rao (85) passed away on Wednesday evening. He was undergoing treatment for ailments in a private hospital in Hyderabad. He is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

Tulasi Rao was born in Yalamanchili on February 1, 1939. He worked in Krushikar Party, Swatantra Party, Janata Party, and was active in TDP for many years.

Tulasi Rao was first elected as chairman of the dairy on August 29, 1986. Since then, he continued to hold the post. He developed the Visakha Dairy’s turnover to 1,400 crore from 11 crore. Tulasi Rao had introduced many welfare programmes for the farmers. He founded Milk Producers & Employees Educational, Health and Medical Welfare Trust, a multi-speciality hospital, school, junior college and also a nursing college.
