VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakha Dairy Chairman Adari Tulasi Rao (85) passed away on Wednesday evening while undergoing treatment for health ailments in a private hospital in Hyderabad. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. His second son Adari Anand Kumar contested to Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat on behalf of TDP in the 2019 elections and is now YSRCP in charge of the Visakha West Assembly Constituency. Tulasi Rao’s daughter Rama Kumari is the Municipal Chairperson of Yalamanchili town. Tulasi Rao was born in Yalamanchili on February 1 of 1939 and he studied up to the Tenth standard. He played active roles in the Krushikar party, Swatantra Party, and Janata Party, and many years active in TDP.Tulasi Rao was elected first time as a chairman of the dairy on August 29 of 1986. Since then he has been elected as Chairman. He is the first person to serve as Dairy Chairman for 37 years. He developed Visakha Dairy’s turnover to Rs. 1400 crore from Rs. 11 crore.Tulasi Rao introduced many welfare programs for the farmers including Milk Producers' Employees' Education, Health and Medical Welfare Trust, a Multi-Speciality Hospital, School, Junior College, and also a Nursing College. He had taken up many irrigation projects and provided drinking water facilities to 1700 villages, besides providing agricultural borewells in 1500 villages, Marriage function halls, and bridges. Many political leaders irrespective of parties expressed their condolence to the family of Tulasi Rao.
