VISAKHAPATNAM: A third-year MBBS student of

Andhra Medical College

(AMC) died on the spot after a speeding truck ran her over near Maruti Circle under Malkapuram police station limits in Visakhapatnam on early morning Friday.

The deceased was identified as M Srividya (20). According to the police, nine third-year students of AMC had gone on a trip to Lambasingi in Visakhapatnam Agency on bikes.

The nine students started on five bikes from Vizag to reach Lambasingi on Thursday night.

The deceased, M Srividya was riding pillion on the being driven by her classmate L Santosh Kumar. At a point in the journey, Kumar had to apply the breaks suddenly. He could not control the bike and Srividya fell down.

A speeding truck that was coming from behind ran over her, killing her on the spot. The body was subsequently shifted to King George Hospital for post-mortem.

The police have registered a case and investigation is going on.
