VISAKHAPATNAM: Tremors were felt in parts of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district in Andhra Pradesh and Koraput district in Odisha on Saturday night.People in many parts of Paderu, Pedabayalu, Munchingiputtu, Araku Valley and few other mandals in ASR and few parts of southern region (Koraput district) of Odisha ran out of their houses on Saturday night and took shelters on streets following the earthquake around 11.31 pm on Saturday.We were watching an IPL match on a mobile phone when everything started shaking. Residents who were in asleep, woke after they felt tremors for a few seconds, ran out of their houses, said Suresh Kumar, a native of Pedabayalu mandal in ASR district. Suspecting that they may feel the tremors again, some of the residents stayed outdoors till 2 am on Sunday, he added.An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred on April 4 (Saturday) at 11:01 pm in Koraput district of Odisha according to the National Center for Seismology. The quake was located at a very shallow depth of 5 km.
