VIZIANAGARAM: Three children, including two siblings, were killed and the siblings' father severely injured in a road accident in which a school bus hit their bike near Tekkalivalasa under Therlam mandal in Vizianagaram district.

The deceased were identified as M Sidhu (10), his brother M Harsha (8) and their cousin V Rishi (8).

Police said five people - the man, his two sons and his two nephews - residents of Perumali village were heading towards Rajam in Srikakulam district on a bike to attend the festival of a local deity. When they reached Tekkalivalasa village, a school bus that was travelling from the opposite direction hit the bike at high speed. Three children on the bike were killed on the spot.

Police said Sidhu and Harsha's father M Murali, who was riding the bike, suffered severe injuries while the fourth boy escaped with minor injuries.

Locals said the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle and hit the bike. The injured persons have been shifted to a government hospital, where the condition of Murali is said to be critical.

Police have shifted the bodies of the deceased to a government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
