Janaki visited two Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) schools —

GVMC Primary School

, Shivaji Palem; and

GVMC PS Waltair

and interacted with children in the age group of 6-11 years.

Inspired by Janaki’s animated voice and facial movements, the children became animated storytellers themselves.

The stories, which told tales of human ingenuity, also spoke of the importance of compassion for humans as well as non-human inhabitants of the world.

Janaki said she strongly believes in the ingenuity of children and their ability to learn lessons without explicitly expressing them. At the end of each session, the literary fest also gave a set of books to both schools to encourage the children to read more.

As part of her day-long visit to the city, Janaki also interacted with a few mothers in Vizag. She spoke to them about the impact of storytelling as well as the importance of early childhood memories.
