Srikakulam, Anantapur in semis

Visakhapatnam: Last year’s runners-up Srikakulam, hosts Anantapur, Sri Satya Sai and YSR Kadapa topped their respective pools with an all-win record in the league phase and entered the semifinals of the 11th Hockey Andhra Pradesh sub-junior women championship at the RDT ground, Anantapur on Saturday.
Results: Pool A: Srikakulam 2 bt Visakhapatnam 1, Srikakulam 3 bt Nandyal 0. Pool B: Sri Satya Sai 1 bt Kakinada 0. Pool C: YSR Kadapa 8 bt Tirupati 0, NTR 1 bt Annamayya 0. Pool D: Ananapur 1 bt Nellore 0, Nellore bt Kurnool 0.
Hari slams ton, Gurucharan misses
G Hari hit a century and N Gurucharan missed one as U-16 and U-19 A team made 296 against the B team in the Kadapa district cricket league.
Brief scores: U-16 & U-19 A: 296 in 65.5 overs (G Hari 101, N. Gurucharan 92) vs U-16 & U-19 B 87/ 2 in 20 overs (C Vijay Ram Reddy 39 batting). Siddhartha, Nyna win chess titles
Raman Siddhartha B (6 points) and G Nyna (4) won the open and girls titles in the district U-13 chess selection tournament onducted by the All Visakha Chess Association. P Prithvi Krishna (5) and M Divya Darshini (3.5) stood second in the open and girls categories respectively. All the four players would represent the district in state championships.
