Sports body scouting for office space

Sports Authority

of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) is scouting locations for its administrative building. The state’s sports authority is reportedly looking for space in and around the GVMC’s Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium near Maddilapalem.

The SAAP administration was shifted from Hyderabad to Vijayawada in October, 2016 following bifurcation. Since then, the SAAP administration was being carried out from the Indira Priyadarshini Municipal Stadium.

According to sources, the SAAP head office will be shifted to Vizag if the city indeed becomes the executive capital. “SAAP may take over the Swarna Bharati stadium,” said a senior SAAP employee. However, vice-chairman K Bhaskar maintained that no communication regarding executive capital has been received till date.
