SIT on land scam disposes 342 plaints
Visakhapatnam: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the state government to inquire into the land scam in Vizag, especially the tampering of government land records, has disposed off 342 of the 1,380 complaints lodged with it.
Chief of SIT, retired IAS officer S Vijaya Kumar told the media here that the SIT had conducted a review meeting with 13 tehsildars and asked about pending reports.

Vijaya Kumar said the SIT has examined cases of No Objection Certificate (NOC) issues and of government-allotted sites issued to private institutions and individuals. “In two or three cases FIRs were also filed against the persons who violated the rules. In two cases, Section 145 of CrPC was imposed. A government land under the control of a housing corporation was encroached upon and an FIR was registered,” Vijaya Kumar said.
Vijaya Kumar added, “We have written to the government to take action for violation in issuing NOCs and allotting government lands to institutions and individuals.”
The SIT has disposed off 44 complaints of encroachment of government land, 38 cases of land grab by private persons and 69 cases of tampering of land records.
