Tributes were paid to the Manyam Veerudu on his 92nd death anniversary. Earlier in the day, panchayat raj minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu conducted a Vardhanti meet at KD Peta where a tomb is dedicated to Alluri Seetha Rama Raju.

Members of the CPI (M) participated in a rally at Maddilapalem Junction urging people to unite and fight for the special status promised to AP. CPM state working committee member Ch Narsinga Rao said, "Alluri represents the fighting spirit of the people of the region. Unless the people show the same spirit in demanding the special status, both the Union and state governments would ignore them completely."
