VISAKHAPATNAM: After a summer break of about 45 days, all

schools and junior colleges are set to reopen

on

Wednesday

. However, problems from the last

academic year

, including lack of infrastructure, unregulated fee structure and unsafe transportation, are yet to be addressed.

Speaking to TOI, regional inspector of the Board of Intermediate Education, P Nagesh Kumar, said three new government and six private junior colleges will start their operations from this academic year. “These three new government junior colleges are located in Anandapuram, Lalam Koduru and Mungapaka. Some of the Kasturba Balika Vidyalayas will be upgraded as junior colleges,” said Nagesh Kumar.

On the other hand, the district education officials are ready to

reopen

schools. They will conduct the ‘Rajanna Badi Bata’ from June 12 to 15 enrol all schoolgoing children. It was learnt that books and uniforms have already reached the

schools

for distribution. Meanwhile, the lack of a fee regulatory mechanism at the private schools/colleges gave a free hand to these institutes to continue to increase the fee.
