Traffic police said that over 18,000 people, including naval officers, will participate in the sixth edition of the
marathon
. The
Eastern Naval Command
(ENC), with the support of other bodies, is hosting the event with an aim to promote the city as a noteworthy destination for runners across India.
Vehicles travelling from NTR Statue to Jodugullapalem Junction will not be allowed on either side of the road from 3 am to 11 am, while vehicular traffic on the side abutting the beach from Jodugullapalem to Chepala Uppada will be closed for all vehicles for the duration of the marathon. All approach roads to Beach Road will also be closed for vehicular traffic, traffic police added. Vehicles heading towards the city from Bheemili will be diverted via Dorathota on the NH-16 stretch.
