Pune team inspects Visakhapatnam beaches

An expert team from Pune-based Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS) will be submitting its interim report on beach erosion in Vizag in a couple of weeks following the team's second visit to the city on Wednesday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: An expert team from Pune-based Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS) will be submitting its interim report on beach erosion in Vizag in a couple of weeks following the team's second visit to the city on Wednesday.
The CWPRS team, comprising joint director MD Kudale and senior research associate Phani Kumar Gokul, visited the spots from RK Beach to Bheemili that witnessed erosion to examine the phenomenon and recommend suitable measures to arrest it.

According to GVMC commissioner MV Satyanarayana, the team will submit its interim report on reasons behind the erosion after examining various data and conducting technical observations. "The expert team will submit a detailed report in five to six weeks to suggest a permanent solution to arrest beach erosion," said Satyanarayana.
The team from Pune interacted with locals at various spots and were accompanied by GVMC chief engineer B Jayarami Reddy, Vuda chief engineer Viswanatha Rao, Vizag Port Trust superintendent engineer Rajanikanth, AU representative B Reddy, among others. Later they also met the GVMC commissioner as well as district collector N Yuvaraj.
