Programme on human rights held at DSNLU

Visakhapatnam: Human Rights Day was celebrated at the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) on Tuesday. Justice SR Bannurmath, chairman of the law commission of Karnataka and former member of the Maharashtra human rights commission attended the programme as chief guest.

During his speech, Justice Bannurmath heralded December 10 as one of the greatest days in the history of mankind.

He said, “Animals indulge in cruelty only to meet their needs or for protections. Human beings who are the most evolved of species cause violence without any reason.”

Prof Rajeshri N Varshadi, the head of the department of law at University of Mumbai, who was the guest of honour, emphasised upon the need for recognition and protection of human rights.
