Visakhapatnam: District medical and health officer Dr P Jagadeeswara Rao, along with district programme officers, on Tuesday unveiled a poster for the upcoming pulse polio programme scheduled on March 3. Dr Rao said that 2.08 lakh children under the age of five years will be vaccinated against polio in the district. He said that the vaccines will be administered through 1,002 polio booths set up across the district, in addition to 74 mobile teams and 32 transit centres.
“The teams will cover 6.51 lakh households in the district on March 4 and 5 to ensure no child is left unvaccinated.
If for any reason, a child is unable to receive the
polio drops at a booth, they will be vaccinated at their homes,” Dr Rao added.
