No hike in power charges proposed for domestic consumer: APERC chairman
VISAKHAPATNAM: The AP Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) Chairman Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy announced that Discoms had not proposed any enhancement of power tariff on domestic electricity consumers. He said that APERC would make decisions by protecting the benefits of consumers and the financial growth of the electricity companies as well. He said that the Sick Industrial Revival Policy for the 2023-24 financial year was approved by the commission.
The APERC started a 4-day public hearing for retile charges, and annual income requirements for the financial year 2024-25 here in the APEPDCL corporate office on Monday. Along with Chairman Nagarjuna Reddy, members Thakur Ramsingh and PVR Reddy would gather the public opinion. AP Transco MD KVN Chakradhara Babu, Discoms CMD’s Prudhvi Tej Immadi from APEPDCL and K Santosha Rao of APSPDCL) presented their proposed tariffs, achievements, and also services to the consumers.
The Chairman Nagarjuna Reddy said that a total of 71 people registered their names for public hearing. He said three electricity companies in the state got ‘A grade in the ratings of REC and congratulated them. He said the APERC appointed special officers to inspect the supply condition and service problems to take note of the real position.
APERC officials along with AP Energy Department, AP Tranco, AP Genco, CPDCL, and SPDCL higher officials besides EPDCL were present on the first day of the public hearing. Second and third days 23 each and final day, on Thursday, eight people would participate and express their opinions.

The public hearing would be held from 10.30 am to 1 pm and resume from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
