No heavy rain on Monday, says IMD
Parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh witnessed thunderstorm activity on Saturday and the same may continue on Monday as well. Various organisations have set up pandals, for which skilled artisans from various parts of the state poured their creativity for over two weeks, for the residents to enjoy the festivities. Rains may dampen festive spirit in parts of Alluti Sitharama Raju and Parvathipuram Manyam districts, which have been receiving rains for past one week.
Drizzle in evening, thunderstorm at night for Bhopal; heavy rain alert for parts of Madhya Pradesh
Several places in Madhya Pradesh experienced heavy rain on Saturday, with a warning of more showers in the coming days. The meteorological department reported that a monsoon trough was passing over Guna and Mandla, while a cyclonic circulation was present over central MP. Another system developing over the Bay of Bengal is expected to impact the state from mid next week. Bhopal recorded a day temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius and a night temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius. The forecast for Sunday predicts cloudy skies with moderate showers and thunderclaps.
Heavy rain brings flash flooding in parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island
Heavy rainfall in Massachusetts and Rhode Island has caused flooding, leading to a state of emergency being declared in one city. The flooding has created moats around homes and stranded drivers. Evacuations have taken place and schools have been closed. The mayor of Leominster urged residents to find high ground until the storm passed. A potential issue with a dam has also prompted immediate evacuations in certain areas. Other communities in the region have also experienced flooding. More storms are expected in the coming days.
Heavy rains lash some parts of Rajasthan, IMD forecasts more downpour for 2-3 days
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded in Dholpur and Banswara districts of Rajasthan, with Dholpur receiving the maximum rainfall of 23 cm. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that rainfall is likely to continue in some parts of the state for the next two to three days. Due to the heavy rains, the ground beneath railway tracks in Dholpur has caved in, leading to the diversion and cancellation of several trains. There is also a possibility of rain in isolated places in eastern Rajasthan on September 12 and 13.
